LGBT Movement Public Histories

TransCollaborations, a community and campus-based group are excited to host this workshop on LGBT Movement Public Histories.

This workshop will engage LGBT movement histories from a public historical lens. Oftentimes, stories from LGBT movements are told from mainstream media sources. This workshop challenges those narratives through 1) presenting alternative histories 2) showing videos from the Trans* Oral History Projects collection and 3) creating our own narratives through an interactive activity.

The Transgender Oral History Project is a collaboration-based resource. Our mission is to promote a diversity of stories from within the transgender and gender variant communities by supporting members of our community who wish to share their stories. We accomplish this through by promoting grassroots media projects, documenting people’s experiences, and teaching media production skills.
