DNA Day: Student Genetic Ancestry Testing - an experiment in making science personal

Charles "Chip" Aquadro, Ph. D., is a Professor, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and Director of the Center for Comparative and Population Genomics at Cornell University. There he teaches Personal Genomics & Medicine (BioMG 1290), and introductory non-majors genetics course at that explores the principles and consequences of biological variation in humans. Students in diverse academic disciplines take this course, which provides an opportunity for each student to submit a free personal DNA sample for ancestry testing. Students are able to learn about their own genetic composition as it relates to the material of the course.
