One Community One Book discussion "Butterfly Mosque"

Saturday, September 23, 2017 -
10:30am to 12:00pm
Meeting Room A

Join us for a discussion of "Butterfly Mosque" by G. Willow Wilson, the 2017 One Community One Book: All Johnson County Reads selection.

Growing up in an atheist family, comic book author G. Willow Wilson never thought to convert to any religion. In her mid 20's a protracted illness led her to question her own personal belief system and to wonder if there was a faith that fit. Becoming intrigued with Islam, she accepted a job teach English in Egypt so she could explore the Islamic faith by immersing herself in the Muslim culture. While in Egypt she met and fell in love with a North African Muslim who would eventually become her husband.

Author G. Willow Wilson will be speaking at the 2017 Iowa City Book Festival in October, but she will not be at this discussion.
